Abstract

This study examines the Sharīʿah and social obligations of human life from the perspective of the Qur’ān, Sunnah, and the principles of Islamic jurisprudence. It highlights that Allah Almighty is the sole sovereign Lawgiver, and all legal obligations originate from divine revelation. The research explains the concepts of farḍ (obligatory acts) and wājib (necessary duties), their legal significance, classifications, and practical implications in both individual and collective life. It further discusses the distinction between farḍ ʿayn and farḍ kifāyah, emphasizing that personal obligations strengthen the relationship between the individual and Allah, while collective obligations ensure the moral, social, and institutional well-being of society. The study also underlines the importance of justice, fulfillment of rights, obedience to divine commands, social reform, enjoining good and forbidding evil, and the role of educational institutions in cultivating responsible citizens. It concludes that a peaceful, just, and prosperous society can only be established when individuals consciously fulfill their Sharīʿah and social responsibilities in accordance with Islamic teachings.
