Abstract
The history of the Ottoman Caliphate is not limited merely to political conquests and military glory; rather, this era stands as a shining example in the social, educational, and welfare aspects of Islamic civilization. The welfare of the subjects-particularly the efforts made to improve the condition of women-proves that the Ottoman rulers not only focused on the consolidation of their empire but also gave importance to social justice, education, and the dignity and respect of women. Initially, the concept of women's welfare in the Ottoman Caliphate was founded upon Islamic principles, emphasizing respect, protection, and opportunities for women to play their roles in society. Consequently, during this period, doors were opened for women to participate in education, medicine, social services, and even to a limited extent in business and charitable endowment (waqf) activities. Ottoman women contributed to the establishment of educational institutions, the construction of mosques and schools, the management of hospitals and public kitchens, and they actively sponsored various welfare initiatives.Special schools, hospitals, and orphanages were established for women, which provided not only education and training but also medical care and employment opportunities. This aspect highlights the comprehensive nature of Ottoman civilization and its social insight, which set commendable examples in the field of welfare for all segments of society especially women.
