Abstract
This paper presents an analytical exploration of the intellectual crisis emerging from the interaction between modernity and religious thought in the contemporary world, particularly from an Islamic perspective. It examines how modernity—rooted in rationalism, secularism, and material progress—has challenged traditional modes of faith, spirituality, and divine authority. The study investigates the resulting tension between reason and revelation, science and spirituality, and individualism and divine morality. Within the Islamic framework, the paper argues that Islam, as a comprehensive system of life, accommodates reason and progress without detaching from divine guidance. The research highlights the causes of the crisis, including Western intellectual dominance, loss of authentic scholarship, and misinterpretation of modern values. Finally, it proposes a balanced intellectual reconstruction through ijtihad, integration of faith and reason, and revival of ethical-spiritual consciousness, ensuring that modern advancements serve rather than undermine the objectives of Islam.
