This study examines ten major works of Sīrah literature that specifically focus on the noble characteristics, virtues, personal qualities, habits, and moral excellence of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The research aims to explore the distinctive features, methodologies, thematic arrangements, and scholarly contributions of these works in presenting the personality of the Prophet ﷺ. While a substantial body of literature has been produced on the biography of the Prophet ﷺ, the genre of Khaṣāʾiṣ, Shamāʾil, and descriptions of the Prophet’s attributes occupies a unique position in Islamic scholarship. These works not only preserve historical information but also provide a comprehensive portrayal of the Prophet’s moral, spiritual, social, and personal excellence. Using an analytical and descriptive methodology, the study evaluates selected classical and later compilations, highlighting their approaches to the narration of traditions, organization of themes, treatment of sources, and contribution to the understanding of Prophetic character. The research further investigates the similarities and differences among these works and assesses their role in shaping Muslim devotion, ethical conduct, and scholarly engagement with the Prophetic model. Particular attention is given to the ways in which these texts present the Prophet ﷺ as an ideal example for individual and collective life. The study concludes that the literature on Prophetic characteristics constitutes an essential branch of Sīrah studies and serves as a vital source for understanding the personality, mission, and exemplary conduct of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It also demonstrates the continuing relevance of these works for contemporary academic research and moral development.
