Abstract
This study critically examined the intrinsic and historically sustained relationship between linguistics and the Holy Qur’an, highlighting the Qur’an’s role not merely as an object of linguistic analysis but as a foundational catalyst for the development of Arabic linguistic thought. From the early stage of Islamic scholarships, the imperative to preserve the integrity of the Qur’anic text, regulate its phonetic realization, and ensure accurate semantic interpretation necessitated the formulation of systematic frameworks encompassing grammar, morphology, phonology and semantics. The Qur’an occupies a unique epistemological position functioning simultaneously as the primary corpus for grammatical inference and as the ultimate standard of linguistic correctness and eloquence. The Classical grammarians abstracted validated and hierachized linguistic rule based on Qur’anic structure. At the semantic level, the Qur’an expanded the Arabic lexical system by reconfiguring pre-Islamic meanings and introducing context-dependent doctrinally grounded semantic networks. It exhibits systematic integration across linguistic levels, Phonetic, Morphological, Syntatic and pragmatic resulting in a call cohesive and functionally motivated discourse structure. Contemporary linguistic theories including structuralist generative and pragmatic approaches provides analytical tools that illuminate inter level relations enhancing complete comprehension of Qur’anic discourse without compromising its sanctity. This dynamic interaction confirms the Qur’an’s exceptional linguistics density and its enduring capacity to engage with evolving theoretical paradigms, positioning it as a timeless and inexhaustible in domain for linguistics research.
