Abstract

In the history of Pashto literature, Hamza Baba is more than a poet. He is a mystic (Sufi) and a deep thinking philosopher also. His verses are not just rhymes but the soul’s voice rising from devotion, divine love and gnosis. The depth of thought in his poetry flows like a river, his spiritual insight burns like a candle and his mystical awareness appears as clear as a mirror. Every word from his is a mystic’s call that lifts a person from servitude to the heights of love. In the world of Sufism two great philosophies have emerged to understand the reality of the One and Only Being, one is Wahdat-ul-Wujood and the other is Wahdat-ul-Shuhood. The first Philosophy proclaims: "There is none but He" while the second says:"None is seen but He". In this research paper, we will study the philosophy of Wahdat-ul-wujood in the light of Hamza Baba’s thought and observe how he reflected the image of the True Beloved in every particle of the universe through his poetry.
