Legislative and Educational Integration in Transactions in the Thought of Saeed Hawwa: Insights from His Book Al-Asas fi al-Tafsir التكامل التشريعي والتربوي في المعاملات في فكر سعيد حوى: رؤى من كتابه الأساس في التفسير

Abstract

This article examines the concept of legislative and educational integration in the Qur’anic thought of سعيد حوى النعيمي through his book أساس التفسير, focusing on عبادات (acts of worship), معاملات (social transactions), and أخلاق (ethics) as an applied model. The study explores how the author presents Qur’anic legislation not as a set of isolated legal rulings, but as a comprehensive pedagogical system aimed at building the individual and reforming society simultaneously. The research analyzes the methodological foundations adopted by Saeed Hawa al-Nuʿaymī in linking creed, law, and moral cultivation, highlighting the dynamic relationship between worship and ethical refinement, and between legal rulings and social responsibility. It demonstrates that in Asās al-Tafsīr, acts of worship are framed as transformative practices that shape character and consciousness; transactions are regulated to achieve justice and social cohesion; and ethics function as the spiritual and behavioral dimension that ensures the vitality of legal norms. Using an analytical and inductive approach, the article concludes that the integrative vision proposed by Saeed Hawa al-Nuʿaymī represents a holistic Qur’anic methodology in which legislation and education operate in harmony. This integration reinforces the unity of Islamic thought and offers a model capable of addressing contemporary moral and social challenges through a balanced synthesis of devotion, law, and character formation.
